John Tyler is introduced as a recently paroled rapist who served seven years in prison for raping two women; he in fact victimized 14 women, but only two offenses were ever prosecuted. He also admits to stalking and manipulating his victims in order to gain their trust.
His day job changes often, but currently he is a clerk in a grocery store, he also studies Buddhism in the hopes that the religion's emphasis on spiritual enlightenment and forsaking desire will redeem his past crimes and keep his violent tendencies in check.
